Position Description

The Director of Accountability Operations is responsible for directing the implementation of the FLA’s due diligence activities, including factory monitoring and assessments and accreditation of company labor compliance programs. This position is based at FLA headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the overall FLA accountability program, which includes factory monitoring and
assessments and accreditation of affiliated companies’ labor compliance programs
• Report to the FLA Board of Directors and senior management regularly on the
accountability program
• Communicate regularly with affiliated companies regarding implementation of the FLA program, consistent with the FLA charter and adopted policies and procedures
• Contribute to the development of the overall FLA process to protect workers’ rights and
improve working conditions at factories of affiliated companies
• Represent the FLA at meetings and professional gatherings as appropriate

Qualifications

• At least eight years experience in labor standards or compliance and broad knowledge of the labor rights field
• At least five years experience managing diverse teams
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills; proven judgment and discretion.
• Excellent oral and written English skills; proficiency in another major language is desirable
• Ability to plan and deliver products such as reports, analyses, assessments and evaluations on time and following agreed formats
• General knowledge of MS Office

Cross-cultural communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior level business and compliance staff are essential.

This position requires extensive travel (international and domestic). Relocation expenses are not available.
