Under the general guidance of the Director of Code Implementation and Monitoring (CIMP), the Participating Supplier Manager’s primary responsibility is to progressively incorporate suppliers (factories or factory groups) into the FLA program. This category of participation in the FLA is called Participating Supplier. The candidate selected for this position will be located in East, South or South East Asia.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in the development and implement a program within the FLA for suppliers
• Understand supplier needs and ensure they are represented and reflected in the design and implementation of FLA programs
• Enhance the capacity of suppliers to comply with the obligations of FLA companies through a variety of means, including periodic communications, orientation sessions,
development and delivery of training modules
• Provide orientation to suppliers on due diligence and ensure that they develop and
implement corrective action plans that are responsive to non-compliances
• Contribute to the overall FLA process to develop methods of improving working
conditions in factories
Qualifications
• General knowledge of MS Office
• At least three years experience in labor standards or compliance with broad knowledge of the labor rights field; experience working for or directly with suppliers desired
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills; proven judgment and discretion
• Excellent oral and written English skills and strong language skills in one or more major Asian languages spoken in manufacturing countries (for example, China, Vietnam)
• Ability to plan and deliver products such as reports, analyses, assessments and
evaluations
• Ability to coach and train companies in capacity building
• Cross-cultural communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with
senior level business and compliance staff are essential
This position requires extensive travel of 50% or more.
