Senior Associate, Climate Finance/IFFE ProjectInstitutions and Governance: Senior Associate, Climate Finance/International Financial Flows and Environment (IFFE) Project Share thisPrint this The World Resources Institute (www.wri.org) is seeking a Senior Associate to lead its work on climate finance within its International Financial Flows and Environment Project (IFFE). Through research, analysis and advocacy, the IFFE project seeks to direct international financial flows towards more environmentally and socially sustainable investments. The IFFE project is housed in WRI’s Institutions and Governance Program, which works with partners in civil society and government to improve the transparency and accountability of institutions entrusted with environmental decision-making. The IFFE project focuses on those international financial institutions (IFIs) that have been particularly influential in shaping international capital flows in environmentally and socially sensitive sectors, including members of the World Bank group and large private financial institutions, including those that have adopted the Equator Principles. IFFE’s research, analysis and outreach strategies prompt these institutions to more systematically incorporate climate change considerations into their mainstream project and sectoral lending, and technical assistance programs. IFFE seeks to ensure that MDBs contribute to global climate mitigation while continuing to apply strong environmental and social safeguard policies in each investment, and align their policies and lending criteria with internationally agreed climate objectives as expressed in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) process. Responsibilities • Authoring and publishing new research on climate finance, and in particular on the role of MDBs in climate finance and on a post-2012 UNFCCC financial mechanism • Conduct outreach and coordinate research to influence debates on a future UNFCCC financial mechanism • Develop direction and design parameters for climate finance projects • Provide leadership, creative direction and oversight to researchers and interns • Collaborating with staff in the Climate and Energy Program, and within the Institutions and Governance Program • Serve as climate finance expert for other WRI projects and staff • Representing the project at high level external events • Fundraising for climate finance projects Senior |
